How Could They? Again and Again

‘How Could They?’ Is an article I’ve done before.  Human experimentation is rampant in the world we live in.  I’ve experienced my share for sure.

I’m currently exploring ways in which [and by whom] Human Experimentation has been done and is still being done.  It’s going to take a while, but I thought I would share the original again.  I’ve added a few links I’m exploring.

How Could They?

When you watch this, remember it is relative to a difficult time in history.

Experience what was done to the inhabitants of the Bikini Islands in this video:

History became the future which is my past–and now we have worse still today.

My first experience being experimented on came when I was a baby. My arm was irradiated so severely it removed the muscle. The pretext to remove a red birthmark. They told my mother it could become cancerous–they used fear. Now I know what was done to me was also cancerous.

                           HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

From 1946-1974, several agencies of the United States government conducted or sponsored experiments on human subjects involving radioactive materials.

The agencies included the Atomic Energy Commission and several branches of the military services, among others. Many such experiments resulted in valuable medical advances like radiation treatments for cancer and the use of isotopes to accurately diagnose illnesses. However, the Clinton Administration has questions about whether subjects of some experiments were treated properly. There are indications that in some cases:

(1)  some subjects may not have been notified that they were participating in an experiment;      (2)  some subjects may not have given proper informed consent;

(3)  certain subjects gave consent, but may not have been fully informed of potential health consequences of the experiment;

(4)  experiments were conducted with disturbing frequency on subjects from vulnerable populations: poor people, elderly people, retarded persons,

infants, [I was one and I’m missing a good chunk of my forearm musculature because of x-ray experimentation when I was just a little babe.]

prison inmates, and hospital patients suffering from terminal conditions; and

(5)  some experiments served no apparent therapeutic medical purpose. Information about these experiments has trickled out over the years, but the government has never made a true accounting to the American people about this period of the Cold War.

*How Could They?* whispers through my mind.

But they weren’t through with me yet. I think back and *How Could They?* rustles and whispers and weeps. The worst that was done involved my children. Many of you know that story.

My life is nearly over. My body is crippled and broken. My family ripped apart.

HOW COULD THEY? screams through my mind.
